Here go to English version

What a week! News from Iceland

For a long time I was not so fulfilled – and so pleased with myself. For seven days I was in Iceland. Seven days with enriching encounters, friendly reunions, successful businesses, pleasant recognition and an incredible amount of inspiration for more photos, texts and other projects. THANK YOU to everyone who I have met in the past few days and who have given me so much inspiration!
From the start….
Occasion of Iceland’s visit is an invitation of the German Ambassador Thomas Meister in Reykjavik, imagine my book there. What an honor! And what a wonderful experience. Because while there is an official occasion, but the atmosphere is very Icelandic: totally relaxed and cosy, almost private. Large part of this will almost certainly have all the lovely people that I meet there, as the writer Kristín Steinsdóttir. Above all, I am pleased that so many women from my book have come: Sabine, Dorothée, Myriam, Nadine, Ruth, Dorthe. I feel like at a party with dear friends.
I also have a nice exchange between colleagues with Hans Rath, author and screenwriter, which is for the first time in Iceland and reads along with me from his latest book.

The evening go by – and in me rises a comforting, warm feeling. I walk with my dear friend Kaja home through the night. the Icelandic summer tingling in my fingers. Although the sun is going down, but it is no longer dark. I love to be at night in Iceland. Brings back memories – it’s an indescribable feeling. A piece of home.
The week could not have started better – and it works like clockwork. The next day I make a deal with Eymundsson that my book „Iceland – lovely home“ will finally be in bookstores on the island soon. This needs to be celebrated – and I meet up with friends for dinner.
The big camera this time I had left home and make a few snapshots – Notes for a new project idea.

Then a dream of mine fulfilled: I meet RAX! Until early September, an exhibition of works of his life can be seen as a photomuseum Reykjavík. And I am invited to a small round of introductions of Ragnar Axelsson, he is talking of his work. What a down to earth, likable and great photographer! The exhibition of large-format images from Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands, the Arctic and smaller prints of his jobs as a press photographer can be seen. These display cases with cameras, magazine clippings and photos of himself from the family album as well as compilations of film documentaries.

Sometimes everything is just perfect!
And ideas and contacts are few and far – so that it remains interesting to see what happens next.
